Memory-filled Mondays

The day started like any other adventurous day.  We had set out to make this "leave" eventful, like we tried to make all "leaves."  We thought, while Brian was in town, that we would go to Beech Bend and enjoy the rides and the company that we had together.

But Daniel was a little confused as to what gender he wanted to be that day...

The macho, life-guarding male or...

the blond, bimbo, beach babe.

But he chose to be the macho male and ride this roller coaster.  Which I refused to ride, because last time I rode it, I think I broke two vertebrae (just kidding).  Seriously though, this roller coaster will jerk you one way and then the next.

As you will notice...one is holding onto his neck, and the other is bracing for dear life.  I don't call what I did "scared", I call it "wise." :)

After that ride they decided to try something a little more dangerous, bumper cars.  But it really wasn't  that much more safe.  It was like a war field, once those cars got charged and moving.  But it was fun, to say the least (and notice that Daniel is still massaging his neck).

Then all three of us decided to go back to something a little more dangerous, "The Shock Drop."  At least we got a good view of Beech Bend, from the top.

Now, this is the part that gets interesting.  There is definitely a story that goes with this picture.  At the check-in counter, you have to pay for your game and then you have to put a deposit on the ball (like $2.00). We were playing an innocent game of mini-golf and Brian hits his ball in this whirlpool of water.  Daniel, bound and determined, decides that he is going to retrieve the ball.  He holds onto the rope and tries to reach in and grab the ball.  Well, when you keep water in a pool like this, it grows algae.  So, his flipflop slips on the algae and in he goes.  So, he is trying to locate the ball while standing up.  He can't stand up though, because it is too slippery.  So, he locates the ball and he tries to stand up, but can't still.  Instead of helping him right away, like I should've, I grab the camera and snap this picture.  Then I help him, of course.

What do you say, was it worth taking a picture?

I think so, because I now have that memory captured on film, and I can look back on what happened and laugh hysterically.  :)

puppy love

"Is this really mine?"

"I love how you squeak, when I bite you."

"Where have you been all my life?"

"I love every part of you. Even the stinky parts."

"You fit perfectly into my mouth. We were meant to be."

"Was I being too rough? I'm sorry."

Puppy love.

Not Me! Mondays

It's another Monday and it's time for another Not Me! Monday. This was created my MckMama over at mycharmingkids.net. She and a bunch of other people, including myself are confessing to things we did "not" do. So, here we go...

Last night Daniel and I cooked a meal for ourselves and Daniel invited my sister-in-law over to eat some. His sister said that she didn't like BBQ and Daniel said that we could fix hamburger for her. I did "not" then proceed to tell him that we are not a catering service and if she wants to eat hamburger she can come over another night, but tonight we are having BBQ. I would "not" be so rude and inconsiderate to not offer something else as well. Because I am the hostess with the mostess.

I did "not" take $40 dollars out of our savings at the ATM (which I meant to do) and end up putting $20 back into the savings, which I meant to keep $20 and put $20 in my checking. I am "not" scatter-brained like that. And then I did "not" wonder why my savings account went up $20.

I did "not" question God's motives when he created fleas. I completely trust in God's motives (I really do).

I did "not" wonder how I got so blessed to have such a wonderful husband that would go see "Julie and Julia" with me. He is really wonderful and the movie was really cute.

I'm done telling you what I did "not" do this week, so tell me what you did "not" do.

Faith of a Mustard Seed

Seems like things are not going good on the job front. The job that was going to be my safety net, is pretty much fallen out from underneath me. The job that I thought was there, pretty much isn't. The e-mails that I've sent out to all the principals aren't coming back. So, like I said things aren't going good on the job front, but I am keeping the faith. I have faith that all things will work out and positive can come out of a negative situation. It's all in how you take it and handle it. So, I'm going to keep praying, hoping, and wishing. As long as God is on my side, what do I have to fear? Nothing.

The first of many, many more

This past Saturday Daniel and I celebrated our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Wow, how time flies. Seems just like last month that we were making all the wedding plans and deciding what songs would play when, who would be in our wedding party, who we would invite, where to get the invitations, and so on. There was so much planning that went into the wedding, but I really didn't pay attention to much of it the night of our wedding. I felt like I was on cloud 9 and there was just Daniel and I. It was a truly magical day.

I remember mom asking me how I felt as we were dancing at the reception and I told her, "It feels like my heart is about to burst with all the love that I am feeling towards Daniel." I truly meant it and I mean it to this day. The love that Daniel and I have is like no other. We complete each other and every day I am reminded of why I fell in love with him in the first place. I plan on writing about our love story here soon, because I want everyone to know it and I want to have it recorded for future generations.

I know that people usually ask couples that have been married 50+ years what their secret to marriage is, but I feel that what Daniel and I have learned in this first year will last us a lifetime. Here are some tips that I would give to some newly weds or couples that are having problems:
* Compromise. Never give up what truly means something to you, but always be willing to meet your spouse 1/2 way.
* Think of the other person's needs before your own.
* Always tell each other that you love them.
* Never go to bed angry.
* Pick and choose your battles.
* Always kiss each other before going to sleep and when you wake up.
* Always talk about things, never hold stuff inside, because when you explode it won't be good for anyone.
* Remember what made you fall in love with them in the first place. They might have changed since then, but chances are they have those same attributes.

We had a Happy One Year. It wasn't glamourous, but it fit our personalities. It was low key and romantic. We started off the day exchanging anniversary cards. Then he looked at some of the love coupons that I made him. We "lounged" around the house a few times. Then we went and ran some errands and I got a new purse and wallet. Had a date at Mancino's. Then we lounged around (for real) and watched a movie. Got a little dressed up went to Ruby Tuesdays, had a wonderful meal. Came back home watched our wedding video, ate some of our wedding cake (still as fresh tasting as the day we got married), and went to sleep (for real).

I love being Daniel's wife and I wrote him 12 reasons (for 12 months of being married) that I love him and here they are:

#1: You make me laugh and smile all the time.
#2: You put my needs above your own.
#3: You have a huge heart and you're compassionate.
#4: You have an amazing smile, some amazing blue eyes, and some to kill for red locks.
#5: The way that you interact with our neices and nephews. I know that you are going to be a wonderful daddy some day.
#6: When I'm with you time flies by, I have no worries, and I feel safe.
#7: With you, I feel complete and on top of the world.
#8: How you always know what to say when we are upset with each other.
#9: The way that when you kiss my forehead, I can feel the love radiate to my mind and travel through to my soul.
#10: How that when we kiss the world around us just fades away.
#11: How that you never get mad at me and you're quick to forgive.
and #12: How that you inspire me and make me want to be a better person.

Here's to you Bebe, I love you so stinkin' much and I hope that the rest of our marriage is as wonderful and even more wonderful than this year has been.

MWUAH!!

~Your wife.

Not Me! Mondays

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
I did NOT leave my wonderful, sweet, adoring husband at home to clean, while I went and spent time with my family, when we had made plans to clean together. What kind of wife would I be if I did that??
I did NOT wish that I would've stayed home and helped him pretty much as soon as I get there, even though I hadn't seen my parents in awhile.
I did NOT start to pick a fight on our one year anniversary over something so little. Why would I do something to ruin the day, that's just absurd.
I did NOT sneak out of our bedroom the morning of our one year and go into the guest bedroom and put the finishing touches on my present to him. I procrastinate on other things in my life, but NOT on such an important day.
Daniel and I did NOT procrastinate on making plans for our one year, and then end up not making a plan B incase it rained and end up just eating at Ruby Tuesdays. We are more organized and decisive than that.
And then we did NOT say that we would celebrate next weekend, knowing full well that we probably won't.
The weather definitely did NOT decide to clear up and it not rain at all and we could've done what we planned all along.
I did NOT almost cry on our one year because I expected us to do more than we did. How selfish would that have been?

Man, there were a lot of things that I did NOT do this week and I am definitely NOT guilty of doing any of these things.

*Feels like a confessional this week, I promise to have funnier ones next week.
